At Upstate Utility Services, the Utility Technician role was created to meet the evolving demands of modern utility, electrical, and communications systems.
This position bridges the gap between traditional linemen, electricians and data technicians by training multi-skilled field technicians who can operate across overhead, underground, fiber optic, electrical, and renewable energy systems.
Utility Technicians are the backbone of our private and public utility services, specializing in utility interconnections, line construction, fiber optic installations, electrical construction, and operations & maintenance (O&M) programs. They play a critical role in both new construction and the long-term reliability of customer-owned infrastructure.

Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $25-50 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
- Overtime: Eligible for overtime pay at time and a half

- Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week with potential for overtime
- Work Environments:
- Residential, Commercial and Industrial buildings
- Renewable energy project sites
- Roadside work sites
- Travel Requirements: Frequent travel to job sites within New York and Pennsylvania
- Safety Standards: Adherence to all company and OSHA safety regulations is mandatory
